StoneMason services:

Headstone

or also referred to as Gravestone, we can supply in Limestone for a lighter appearance, like Portland or Granite and Slate which is an igneous stone, so can withstand the weather much better, but is much darker.

Stone Plaque

including memorial plaques, house name and numbers. Normally requiring engraving and general lettercutting and is generally the most requested type of stonework and the best value for money as it falls in most peoples budget.

Stone Restoration

We offer restoration to ornate stone carvings as well as plain stone replacement. Bay windows are frequently requested and normally require replacement with plain stone with little engraving.

Stone Masonry & Carving

Normally comissioned by artists or for exhibition. Tom excells in ornate and technically dificult stonework. He has been comissioned by some of the top stone mason sculptures as an apprentice to work on pieces for exhibition.

All our stone is sourced from natural stone quarries and our stonemasonry is all hand cut using traditional hammer and chisels.

Process from source (Quarry) to end carved stone:

  • Quarrymen split the rock, and extract the resulting blocks of stone from the ground.
  • Sawyers cut these rough blocks into cubes, to required size with diamond-tipped saws.
  • Banker masons are workshop based, and specialise in carving stones into intricate geometrical shapes required by our clients.
  • Carvers work with the stone to create beautiful designs.
  • Fixer masons specialise in the fixing of stones onto buildings.
